We Welcome Questions

Dr. Jayne and Dr. Kois believe patient education is an important part of a successful dental treatment. This is why they take the time to talk with you, listen to your questions and concerns and explain all proposed procedures, such as tooth whitening and smile makeover.

Drs. Jayne and Kois and their dental care team also discuss benefits and possible complications of treatments so you can make informed, confident decisions about your health.

Below are some questions patients interested in general, restorative and cosmetic dentistry in Seattle pose frequently. Please review the information provided. We invite you to call or email us anytime with additional questions at 206.623.4400, or email us here.

How important is my smile?

According to Chris Hart, “All the statistics in the world can’t measure the warmth of a smile.” But a recent survey of U.S. adults by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry found that:

  • 92% of respondents believe an attractive smile is an important social asset
  • 87% said they always remember someone with an especially attractive smile
  • 85% of those surveyed said an unattractive smile makes a person less appealing to people of the opposite sex
  • 74% felt an unattractive smile can hurt a person’s chances for career success
  • 50% are satisfied with the appearance of their own smiles

How can you help me if I don’t live in Seattle?

A number of our patients live out-of-town and travel here to receive higher quality dental care than they have available at home. Just call and let us know when you would like to schedule your appointments, and we’ll do our best to get you in and work around your business trip or vacation time. We also offer complimentary tooth whitening, complimentary consultation and exam, courtesy limousine service from the airport, and we’re happy to help make all your travel plans, including flight arrangements and accommodations.

Can I really have my smile enhanced in less than one week?

Depending on your needs, we may be able to complete the work in as little as two appointments: one to prepare and a second to finish. We treat many patients this way. However, in keeping with our comprehensive care approach, we recommend in some cases that patients treat underlying conditions first then proceed with cosmetic enhancements. When you come in for your complimentary consultation we can discuss what you want to accomplish and tailor plans accordingly.

Can my appointments be scheduled to correspond with by vacation, business trip or other plans?

We make every effort to work around you and accommodate your needs. Plus, we offer out-of-town patients complimentary whitening and other courtesies

Will my insurance pay for cosmetic dentistry?

Coverage depends upon your specific policy and deductible amount. Our full-time insurance coordinator Terri enjoys handling the many details involved with processing insurance claims. She’s a powerful advocate for patients, helping them maximize their insurance benefits. Terri will go to bat for you with your insurance company so you don’t have to — a huge benefit and service to patients. We can also supply insurance companies with intra-oral photographs to provide indisputable evidence of indications and treatment.

How easy is it to find your downtown Seattle office and nearby parking?

Relax and do not worry about downtown parking. At our cosmetic dentistry Seattle center, we validate parking at the parking garage at the Seattle Library – the garage entrance is located on the right side of Spring Street between 4th and 5th Avenue. Spring Street is a one-way running east.

If you are traveling south on 5th Avenue – take a right onto Madison; then a right onto 4th Avenue; then a right onto Spring Street and another right into the garage.

If traveling north on 4th Avenue, take a right onto Spring Street with another right into the garage.

In addition, our location offers extremely easy access from the freeway – we are situated just one minute from the exit. See Map & Driving Directions

We’re experts in comprehensive cosmetic dentistry with a long history of creating smiles for patients with the full range of concerns and needs. Take a look at the Smile Files to see some of our work, then schedule your Complimentary Consultation so we can get started on your individual treatment plan.

What will it cost to create my new smile?

Please come in for a Complimentary Consultation, and we can discuss your goals, options for achieving your new smile and estimates of what it will cost. We work with patients’ insurance providers to maximize any applicable benefits and coverage, and we offer a number of payment options to make your new smile more affordable than you might think.

Can I speak to some of your patients who have had similar work done?

Many of our patients love to talk about what their new smiles have meant to them and the difference it has made in their lives. Please come in for a Complimentary Consultation, and we’ll gladly prepare a list of referrals for you to contact.

What distinguishes the Seattle Center for Cosmetic Dentistry from other cosmetic dentistry practices?

When it comes to your smile, why would you accept anything but the very best care? We have a tremendous respect for our colleagues who provide high quality dental care. Because Dr. Jayne instructs other dentists in the art and science of creating smiles — as a post-graduate instructor in Cosmetic Dentistry at the University of Washington School of Dentistry — you can trust that the latest techniques and technologies and the profession’s highest standards of quality are all being applied to creating your individual treatment plan.

What’s more, Drs. Jayne and Kois and their entire team care about providing exactly what you want and need. We don’t believe in covering up problems — you’ll get the best recommendations, options and hand-picked professional team for your unique Comprehensive Care. Plus, we think you’ll like working with us, whether you’re a high anxiety patient who requires special attention, or you know exactly what you want and want the very best to do the work.

Is the BriteSmile in office teeth whitening system bad for my teeth?

The BriteSmile system consists of a gentle hydrogen-peroxide whitening gel activated by a special gas plasma light. Hydrogen-peroxide has been used for more than a century to whiten teeth. Independent safety studies, conducted by the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and confirmed by senior researchers at NYU, prove that the BriteSmile professional teeth whitening treatment is safe, while clinical studies performed by BriteSmile and others show an average of 8 or more shades lighter — and even higher for individuals with darker teeth — after a single visit.

How natural will my smile be after cosmetic dentistry?

Chances are, unless you tell people they’ll never know that you’ve had cosmetic dentistry work done here. Of course, your friends, family and co-workers will undoubtedly notice how great your smile looks. But we take special pride in creating the most natural smile possible, matching the light that shines through your natural teeth so that even a single tooth restoration is virtually undetectable. Do you work with children?

We love children. But we’ve chosen to focus on what we do best: providing adults with comprehensive cosmetic dental care. Other excellent dentists have chosen children’s dentistry, or Pedodontics, as their area of focus and expertise. We would be happy to provide referrals to these professionals.
